This plan is ridiculous and disheartening to see. I am a science teacher and one of the things we teach students about is the dangers of habitat fragmentation to healthy animal populations. The Greenbelt functions as it does because of its interconnectedness. Removing land from one area and adding it somewhere else is not the same in the slightest, man-made wetlands and ecosystems will NEVER function as well as natural ones, and protecting fragmented areas of natural space only provides pockets of habitat for animals to somehow get to. A connected natural area like the Greenbelt allows animals to travel naturally and with the resources they need.

We do have a housing crisis, but work with large cities to develop dedicated affordable housing options in now unused spaces, like offices or empty homes. Promote different areas of Ontario that have capacity for those new to Ontario and for current residents. Develop a long term plan that doesn't involve opening up the Greenbelt for possible further development and only benefit the rich few that can afford to live there. It isn't an affordable housing option if the land will be used for multi-million dollar houses. Keep your word and don't touch the Greenbelt.
