The greenbelt is a precious gift for future generations. Developing it will create another car-dependent hellscape, is not sustainable, and will result in a broken election promise. Shame on you. Next you will want to create highway 413.
Developing car-dependent hellscapes are a strategy from the 1950s. They are not economically sustainable.

Silvio, Carlo and Michael De Gasperis are part of a wealthy developer family that has made significant contributions to the PC party. They own many tracks of land in the greenbelt that they want to develop. Clearly, PC greenbelt strategy is driven by greedy developers.

Do not pretend that this will solve the housing problem. Ontario should be following the lead of Waterloo, with "15 minute neighborhoods" close to transit. See link below.
