We do have a housing crisis in ontario but we also have a climate crisis. The green belt is an important part of the landscape of Ontario and Having already sold parts of it to developers makes me question if this wasn’t the Ontario governments part all along. Developers are not going to build affordable housing, they are going to build properties and sell them at an inflated price, because they can. Drastic thinking creates problems down the road, it is not planning for the future. What future will our children have if all the green space is developed to build unaffordable housing?.
Also removing the building fees makes no sense. They should pay their way and not put it on the backs of the people of Ontario would are trying to make ends meet. The developers are just going to make more money and the cities will not have money for infrastructure and our taxes will increase…while these multi millions make additional profits. What happened to Fords promise to not touching the greenbelt. It’s very disappointing to think that greed overtakes sense. This should be an issue that the Ontario residents can vote on, how politicians have this much power is beyond me. Some of us may have voted this government in , but that doesn’t mean you can do what you want without our say…or maybe it does.
