The preservation of the greenbelt is essential for the future of the province and country. The greenbelt includes protected lands that ensure spaces in which many species of plants and animals may thrive. It ensures that wetlands and watersheds are also protected. Growth in the province should maximize in-fill in already urban areas, and improve the infrastructure that already exists in these areas, rather than destroy protected green spaces.
