The Greenbelt was established for multiple reasons, all of which focus on the sustainability of our future. The government of Ontario does not need to develop land that is already protected, there is land all throughout our beautiful province that has not been protected and is available for home development. The focus of the Ontario government should not be how well they can be perceived, but rather doing what is best for the residents, current & future, which includes doing what is best for the land that surrounds us, feeds us, filters our water, helps prevent floods, and sustains entire ecosystems.
The Greenbelt was not established for governments to swap out their idea of 'prime development land' with land further from cities. This plan does not take into consideration what will happen to the cities that will inevitably continue expanding without any thought given to the future impact of the buildings and residents that will live there one day.

We do not want you to check off an item on your list, as the current plan would seemingly do. We want you to take a moment, think critically, and listen to the people that have trusted you to serve them and their future.
