This proposal is, on its' face, corrupt. Numerous developers purchased land in the Greenbelt after Doug Ford's Conservatives came to power (please refer to supporting links 1 and 2), even as Ford was saying that he would not touch the Greenbelt. This reversal of policy is not at all surprising considering how much Ford's donors stand to gain from this decision.

In addition, if the objective of this plan is to solve the housing crisis, many experts point out (as per supporting link 3) that there are ways to support development without intruding on the Greenbelt. Building on brownfield lands, increasing urban density, improving transit are much more cost-effective and sustainable ways of urban growth than building single-family homes in areas with no existing infrastructure.

As well as hurting the environment, this proposal also affects Ontario's farmlands and negatively impacts the farmer's livelihood and the province's ability to produce food. This proposal is poorly thought out and benefits no one but developers who stand to gain greatly. It should be soundly rejected by any reasonable person who has read it.
