Hi, I'm a student in the TDSB. I am in Grade 7 and we have been discussing the Greenbelt in geography. We found out that the Greenbelt is in danger, and we are angered about it. The Greenbelt is crucial for Ontario's well-being. The Greenbelt prevents floods, adding homes would be pointless because the homes would be destroyed due to the floods. We also massively depend on the food the greenbelt processes. It's fresh food without the harmful chemicals that are added to food we import from other countries. I understand that Ontario has a housing crisis but isn't having safe air to breathe also a crisis? The greenbelt provides us with proper air due to all the trees the Greenbelt is 2,000,000 acres that is 2,000,000 acres of trees, animals, and land that help Ontario and provide Ontario with a safe green space. I completely understand that we are getting land back for it but it's basically saying “well take your child but it's fine we’ll give you another great kid” so is that ok. Why is the government suddenly all about money, the government of Ontario has become greedy for money, the government has billions of dollars what is the point of taking more than we need Ontario needs a government helping them not hurting them I'm in grade seven soon I'll be in grade eight then nine then soon enough ill be graduating why would you let such young mind be corrupted by this horrible act back in 2005 you made us a promise to protect the greenbelt why is the government so casual to break a promise that has been standing for over 15 years why so casual to break it. Isn't the government full of adults are you supposed to be teaching the youth about keeping promises and keeping your word? Why just suddenly decide you're going to stop that? Please take this paragraph into consideration.

Sincerely,
Grade 7 Student In the TDSB
