Hi.
I am a student of the TDSB system. In my class, we are discussing the issue of whether or not The Greenbelt should be reduced so people can build on the land. We had many conversations in class about it and most people agree that the greenbelt is a crucial part of our environment. After all this time learning about it I have some questions about The Greenbelt in total. The most recurring question is why the government or Doug Ford want to destroy the greenbelt? This question might be a controversial question but here is my side of things. I agree that no one should be able to build on Greenbelt. Myself and many others have very good points as well. Here are some of the facts I picked up on is that if they cut down the greenbelt, our area will become a disaster. We have the biggest greenbelt in the world but our home is also 86% polluted. So, if they build on top of the greenbelt, our supply of clean air and safe non polluted air will be ruined and the pollution will go up in the ranking. But not just pollution is the issue. What about the animals? The animals that live in the area are very much important. A lot of animals are killed because of the toxic fumes and other gasses as well as pollution. So, I agree that The Greenbelt should not be cut down.
