Ford insisted on 19 occasions since coming to office he would not touch the Greenbelt.

No one elected him on this Policy change. It is an affront that must be rejected.

Every credible person looking objectively at these amendments has determined they will not address our housing crisis by volume or by affordability, it will add an unfair tax burden to existing rate payers and cripple municipalities’ capacities to steer funding at current infrastructure needs.

As an MES and. PhD Candidate in UWaterloo’s School of Environment one of the first thing we teach 1st year students about is the devastating impacts of Hurricane Hazel in 1954 and the creation of Conservation Areas to act as buffers to ensure catastrophic flooding across f cities towns and ag lands is avoided.

We need to be introducing more systems thinking to our Greenbelt Plan. These amendments are regressive in the ways they atomize our ecosystem components and fail to centre our current understanding.

These amendments pretend none of this half a century effort was science based and if implemented will lead to avoidable hardship and expense.

Colleagues from every eNGO and legal group has given adequate summary of to the technical failures of these amendments. So too have municipalities expressed the ways these amendments affect their capacity to protect residents and infrastructure. None of these amendments recognize our own Ministries’ climate reports and strategies as inadequate and hope filled as these documents are!

These amendments must be rejected.
