We have known for decades, now, that our abuses of the environment were, and are, leading to catastrophically dangerous ends. Now is not the time to decrease our environmental protections - now is the time to increase them, and to increase our commitment to a sustainable future. Ignoring the damage we have already done to the environment, while systematically dismantling what small protections are in place is not only shortsighted, but shows a callous disregard of scientific fact. We are not arguing about how real climate change is, but to what degree the damage that is done already is irreversible, and to what degree we can salvage our planet - if at all. Bill 4, Cap and Cancellation Act - 2018 shows a callous disregard of the citizens of Canada in favour of corporate greed. The government, as stewards of our province, is not fulfilling its obligation to protect our lands and our future.
