I am a concerned citizen who would hope that the registry officials are prepared to listen to experts such as the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. Historically this organization has been cited for preserving our natural heritage and keeping large areas of the GTA natural for the enjoyment of all, while protecting our source water and mitigating the effects of climate change. Unfortunately, in recent years this organization (that is needed more than ever) has been the target of various government mandates which are continuing to strip away its powers of environmental protection.

I am also deeply concerned that this process is being rushed, particularly in light of new municipal councils just coming in. I am also concerned that these proposed modifications were not in any election promises (to the general public anyway)

The proposed removal of certain lands from the existing Greenbelt will remove large parts of OUR natural heritage systems; systems that are already under threat by nearby development. Many of these areas have nearby rivers and streams that are part of our source- water protection. These areas were identified as such because they have natural features, wildlife, plants, etc. some of which may be endangered. Is there a study to be done before these features are DESTROYED FOREVER. The idea of swapping one area for another without an incredibly detailed study is preposterous.

Of particular concern to me is Proposed Modification Map #6 which again will remove large areas identified as Natural Heritage and will bring more development even closer to Duffins Creek and currently serves as a buffer to Rouge National Urban Park. In my view this area should remain off limits to development FOREVER.

From what I have seen from discussions on the housing front there is already sufficient land available without destroying natural systems, source-water protection, and productive farmland. I'm sure there are experts out there who will speak to our need to continue to mitigate flood risks and the climate crisis. We've come too far in preserving OUR GREENBELT to start chipping away at it now.
