I strongly object to the proposed Cap and Trade Cancellation Act. The Cap and Trade program was working. Ontario's greenhouse gas emissions declined form 2005 to 2016. The program was funding energy-efficient programs. Now it is being dismantled to be replaced by what? As Dr. Dianne Saxe, Ontario's environmental commissioner stated in her Greenhouse Gas Project Report, Climate Action in Ontario: What's Next? the government's plan promises “undetermined action to achieve undetermined and easily changed targets at some undetermined future time, with no criteria or consequences.” Keep Cap and Trade until you have developed a viable option. We can't afford to go backwards.
