To meet our carbon reduction commitments, I feel there is a better way than with Cap and Trade. As such I am am glad to have this opportunity to voice my opinion!

These ideas have been spoken of at different conferences and University lectures; one of these lectures is a Ted Talk.

Straight to the point, this involves a tax placed on fuel based energy. The monies get sent to citizens (all) in the form of a cheque whereby it can be used in any way the citizen chooses. Those who choose to buy fuel, spend more and those that don't can use the money to buy e.g. bus passes etc. If one spends the money on fuel efficient vehicles, the potential to save is higher.

This is to be a revenue neutral scheme and the tax should be raised on an annual basis.
