Remove planning authority from Regional Municipalities? The regions link our municipalities, and their oversight is essential.
Speed building in our municipalities with powers vested in the provincial government, not the municipal government? This is against our basic democratic representation!
Municipalities cannot require developers to pay for infrastructure and parks? Will the cost be downloaded on all the taxpayers of the municipality? That will increase the cost of home ownership for people who are just at the margin of affordability. Basically making housing more expensive for more people!
Is there a hint that new development may be permitted without accompanying parkland? This goes against all city planning practice.
BIRDS. Now we have regulations about window glass - if these are dropped, it will mean a return to tens of thousands of migrating birds killed when they fly into windows. Bird populations are plummeting for many reasons - when there's an easy fix like certain glass, choose it.
