I oppose the dismantling of the democratic process with regard to planning and land use decisions that have the potential to seriously impact existing residents and may have been made by people with no roots in the community they seek to change, or knowledge of its good and bad features. Government actions are always improved when public feedback is sought and given proper consideration.
I oppose the elimination of public meetings for approval of a draft plan of a subdivision and the exemption of site plan control requirements for projects with fewer than 10 residential units will impact the ability for municipalities and the public to bring up substantial issues with planning proposals. Such projects are often the way development occurs in rural communities like mine.
