While it’s laudable to wrap these proposals around environmental concerns, it’s obvious that waterfront cottage owners are being catered to. A banning of discharging grey and black water into our lakes and rivers would make far more sense.
The 300m offshore restriction seems like overkill and for example, would eliminate several mooring sites on the Ottawa river close to Ottawa.
Limiting mooring in a particular location to 7 days a year also seems draconian - that’s only 2 to 3 weekends in an entire year.
I’ve been sailing and mooring on the Ottawa river for many years and have not seen nor do I understand what problems these proposals are addressing.
