I am in my late 30's and have been aware of global warming since I was a very young person. The Green Energy Act is a series of regulations and programs that made me VERY proud to live in Ontario and was leading us down the path to meeting our greenhouse gas reduction targets.

Cancelling the Green Energy Act will set us back decades. We don't have time for that. With the publication of the latest report from the IPCC warning that we need to keep global temperatures at 0.9 degrees celsius, rather than the earlier targets of 1.5 degrees celsius, it is important that our political representatives respond accordingly to make Ontario a place where green energy is harnessed to help power our daily lives, and continue incentives for citizens to invest in greener technologies: rebates for LED retrofits, rebates for electric and hybrid vehicles, incentives for taking public transit, and greater investment in public transit and active transportation so that people are less reliant on fossil fuels to go about their daily lives.

I urge the Government of Ontario to continue its incredible leadership in this area and to expand it further, rather than electing to go the easy route and having to respond in an alarming fashion as the effects of global warming and climate change alter our landscape, weather patterns, and access to water and food. Ontarians cannot afford to ignore the warning of global science leaders and must listen and collaborate to make Ontario, and the world, a viable place for all to live.
