I am completely opposed to the cancellation of the cap and trade program, and the manner in which it was decided. Carbon pricing is essential to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, to meet our commitments under the Paris climate accord, and to reduce our contribution to climate change.

However, I know that it does not matter what I comment on that cancellation, as it will not change anything, so I will focus my comments on the proposal to prepare a climate change plan. It is essential that the government sets ambitious targets, and that it is required to meet those targets - not just required to prepare progress reports.

Please consider our children's future and take significant measures to mitigate carbon emissions. It will be a lot cheaper to spend money now to prevent the worst effects of climate change than to have to pay to try to mitigate the impacts once the atmosphere has warmed even more.
