We are opposed to the proposed aggregate pit for a number of reasons;

)- Zoning - We have recently purchased a home for our retirement in close proximity to the proposed site. We chose the location because of the area and the zoning. A significant portion of the proposed excavation site is zoned RU. We were aware of this zoning when we purchased and felt secure in having that zoning to protect the rural nature of our home and surroundings. Changing the zoning and developing a long term large scale excavation site next to our home is not acceptable to us.

)-Water Supply - We are concerned about the long term viability of our water source. We have a drilled well and use it for all our potable water needs as well as our home heating and cooling (water source geothermal). The well has provided adequate water supply for these needs since 1993 when the home was built. Any detrimental effects to the water supply will cause significant hardship.

)- Air quality - As we write these comments we are experiencing a haze in our skies as a result of the wildfires in Alberta - thousands of kilometers away. We are seniors and feel our quality of life will be severly impacted by the dust since we are located east of the site, less than one kilometer, and would be subject to dust borne by prevailing westerly winds.

)- Noise - We are aware of the noise study that is included in the report and the standards that have been used. We are concerned, however that an existing TMJ disorder one of us is living with and which causes us to be extremely sensitive to any resonating noises will have a significant negative effect on quality of life.
