We are still wondering why Ontario continues to allow the use of live bait? We do believe that it is restricted in our sister Provinces, and do think it should be in Ontario as well!
To allow the general public to harvest their own live bait is simply ridiculous since we have most of our pristine natural lake trout lakes, now full of bass.
To ask the general public to actually know what they are harvesting, remove species that are not allowed, is ridiculous, they think a minnow is a minnow.
It seems we can set up rules for Provincial Parks and Protected areas, and All of lakes should be considered protected areas against invasive and harmful species.
We believe that no bait, checked or not should be transferred from southern Ontario or the know VHS areas.
This company goes to the expense of buying all live bait for our customers, so we can actually buy the proper baitfish..do not allow suckers at all, and when are they going to be on the invasive list, a small lake full of suckers is ruining the original species.
You will have the argument that he Bait industry needs to stay sustainable, there are plenty of options, artificial anything is available now a days, and it works. UU.S. guest rarely order live bait and catch fish always.
