Climate change is going to have detrimental impacts on human health, global ecosystems, and food resources and there is overwhelming and widespread evidence that human activities are causing climate change. Current emission levels no longer make it plausible to avoid the impacts of climate change. Our only hope is to lessen the degree of human-induced change that will occur. Lessening the impact of climate change requires leadership and innovative solutions.
Repealing the climate change act is the opposite of leadership. It is short-sighted a to spend time in office repealing previous governments improvements. Climate change will only be solved by strong leadership at all levels of government. It is difficult to overstress the importance of taking positive climate action. Please do not repeal the original climate change bill. My future and the future of my family depends on maintaining the policies that strengthen avoidance of the worst climate change scenarios.
As a climate change scientist, I see the impacts of a changing environment on the organisms I study and the communities I interact with. These communities are already deeply affected by climatic change. Our communities in Ontario are seeing increases in the number and intensity of forest fires and we will see increases in food prices as shortages start to occur across the globe. This is NOT the Ontario anyone wants to live in.
Please do not repeal cap and trade or another form of carbon tax.
