I am very concerned about the “minor project” exemptions regarding wildlife. “Management” of “hyperabundant” wildlife usually means shooting and/or lethal trapping of animals like cormorants, deer, raccoons, etc. “Management” of human wildlife conflicts includes “humane dispatch and disposal” of bears, coyotes, raccoons, beavers, etc. “Management” of beavers often involves drowning the animals. “Management” of “displaced feral animals” after disasters should be rescuing, but I am guessing they are simply killed. Some truly humane methods like birth control, hazing, and relocation are mentioned, but proper waste management, public education, and management of humans should be the priority. All lethal management should be banned.
“Control of rabies and rabid animals” and “control of pathogens” is mentioned. Please bear in mind that Ontario MNRF no longer uses lethal management of rabies. They use vaccines and test animals found dead.
Please work with animal rights organizations instead of killing animals.
