I oppose this bill as it's currently written. I'm deeply disappointed and concerned that the government is repealing carbon pricing, especially as nothing has been put forward to replace it. If this was being done at the same time other measures were being put into place that would reduce emissions even more, like a better overall action plan on climate change, then maybe this would be ok. But nothing has been put forward, let alone anything that would be better on its own than with carbon pricing.

Climate change is a huge danger to our province, our economy, and the whole world. Carbon pricing is a great way to make polluters pay for their pollution. It creates an incentive for companies to reduce their emissions, and it helps raise money to support cleaner energy, energy efficiency, and other measures to fight climate change and protect the environment we all depend on. The government should be working to make the carbon pricing system better not just getting rid of it. We should have an even higher price and just give more of the money back to the people of Ontario in tax breaks or cheques or more support for important public programs. That's what standing up for the people of Ontario and putting their interests first would look like.

Just look at the intense heat wave we've had this summer, all the people it killed in Quebec, the spread of lyme disease, the harsher storms we're having, the Calgary floods, the fires in BC, and on and on. Climate change is hurting us, and with this repeal the government seems to be trying to make it hurt even more. Honestly I find this incredibly shameful and shocking. What is wrong with you people? I don't have kids but I'm an uncle and I'm scared for my nieces and what climate change is doing to the world they're growing up in. I'm scared for what climate change is doing to the world I'll grow old in, and maybe even raise my own kids in. Shame on you for what you're doing here. The government needs to do better.
