Dear Ministry of the Environment,
I am writing to express my deep concern regarding Ash Grove Cement's recent request for site-specific standards, allowing them to continue emitting 12 times the safe limit of sulphur (SOx) and 4 times the safe limit of nitrogen (NOx) into our air for the next 10 years.
These emission levels far exceed established safety standards, and the potential consequences are alarming. Sulphur and nitrogen emissions have been linked to severe health problems, including increased rates of heart and lung diseases among the population.
Given the well-documented risks associated with elevated levels of SOx and NOx, it is crucial that we prioritize the health and well-being of our community over industrial interests. I urge the Ministry of the Environment to carefully reconsider and thoroughly assess the implications of granting such exemptions.
I believe it is our collective responsibility to ensure a clean and healthy environment for current and future generations. Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated, and I trust that the Ministry will make decisions that prioritize public health and environmental sustainability.
Thank you for your time and commitment to safeguarding our environment.
