Despite promises made by Ash Grove Cement Company, it has failed to comply with its commitments, posing a threat to the well-being of the residents in our community. The air quality crisis is alarming, with emissions exceeding safe limits—12 times for Sulphur and 4 times for Nitrogen.
The cement company's disregard for emission standards is deeply concerning, and their lack of concrete plans to address the issue only compounds the problem. Instead of presenting a detailed strategy to meet the new emission standards, they have boldly requested an additional 10 years from the government.
On a personal note, I find myself grappling with the harsh reality that my children are growing up in the midst of this environmental crisis.
While the cement business is undoubtedly vital for the city and government, it is crucial to recognize that without residents, the very foundation of the city and government crumbles.
I urge you to consider the residents of Mississauga, Canada, as you address and rectify the pressing issues related to air quality and emissions.
