An environmental assessment…

Comment

An environmental assessment needs to be complete to ensure the air quality in the area will not deteriorate. The plans for construction of the facility and roadways will require the use of heavy machinery, this will surely cause major amounts of dust and particulate disturbance as the roads in the area are not rated to withstand the weight of this equipment. The material the landfill is expecting to take in also poses a risk to residential health, construction material is known to contain carcinogens like asbestos and benzene. The safest minimum distance from a landfill to avoid adverse effects is 3.5 km, the proposed location encompasses the entire town within this radius. A town that includes an elementary and high school, and the homes of more than 3000 residents. For the health and safety of our citizens an environmental assessment is the most important tool we can have as a resource. We absolutely need to have a comprehensive assessment completed.
