As a resident of Simcoe i am appalled at this proposal. We have the highest water rates in Ontario even though we live 10 minutes from Lake Erie and are paying to bring water in from Haldimand County. Our existing hospital isn't capable of handling our current requirements and the lack of infrastructure already in Norfolk County makes me wonder who is actually running the asylum. As an already overburdened taxpayer i can only assume that our taxes and other basics will be increased because of more poor planning. Maybe someone should "park the bus" and actually look at what this town and county needs before taking on this proposal. How about working and proposing how to bring water in from Lake Erie directly into Norfolk as Haldimand has. Maybe taking a serious look at our hospital deficiencies and finding a way to support them or lack of proper policing, paramedics or fire requirements. Our ever growing traffic problems based on the residential growth without the proper or thought out infrastructure. The homeless and drug problems having a direct impact on our downtown businesses. It seems to me that if all levels of government actually sat down and worked together we would not be having these conversations or adding more fuel to an ever growing problem. What we need are solutions to these problems without the constant increase in living costs or passing the Loonie. Let's fix the basic needs before this proposal becomes another problem.
