The proposal to review, and possibly eliminate, existing bike lanes will do nothing to reduce congestion. It will, in fact, increase congestion, cause higher rates of injuries, and cause the elimination of more greenhouse gases.

- The elimination of bike lanes will cause 'induced demand'; briefly reducing the impacts of congestions but eventually resulting in additional vehicles on the road, negating any impact.

- Toronto Bike Share has been beating annual ridership predictions because riders are able to use safe, protected lanes. The elimination or reduction of these will result in people choosing more congestion-impacting modes, such as driving.

- Plus, in a 2019 report, businesses on Bloor St. in Toronto reported receiving more business after the bike lanes were installed.
