We have complained about the unfavorable aroma from WESSUC. This issue poses serious dangers to health, mainly concerning the presence of harmful pathogens, toxic gases, and other hazardous substances. Sewage does contain a variety of dangerous pathogens including but not limited to bacteria, viruses, and parasites; and, these can cause serious issues when inhaled. E. coli, salmonella, and Shigella which can lead to gastrointestinal infections. Viruses such as Hepatitis A, Norovirus, and Rotavirus and inhalation of the particles containing these viruses can lead to respiratory infections, as well as gastrointestinal illness. The aroma worries the community as we do not know what we are breathing in. Hydrogen sulfide is produced during decomposition of organic bio solids in sewage. It has characteristic of rotten egg smell and can be highly toxic - research shows that high concentrations of this can lead to respiratory distress, loss of consciousness and even death. Further, Ammonia which is found in human waste also can irritate the respiratory system leading to respiratory issues. This smell has been an issue noticed by me since at least year 2020. The community is concerned also about long term health risks to whatever is lurking the the air. Continuous exposure to harsh pathogens can increase the risk of chronic infections like cancer, and cognitive impairments. We also should be concerned for our vulnerable groups in the community (elderly, youth, people with pre-existing conditions, and compromised immune systems, at the least.

This should also not just for the community, but for the people within this occupation are obviously also at an increased risk as their exposure on the job would present the same above noted concerns. Furthermore they are susceptible to accidents, spills, possible skin irritations, and the nature of the work is in my opinion probably not pleasant conditions.

I kindly request the appropriate measures be taken to investigate and resolve this issue as soon as practicable. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
