I would like to comment on an article published in the Erin Advocate from Nov.15 about the moratorium on water permits. I agree that we should extend the moratorium to 2020. Also agree that we need to phase out the single bottle water industry, there is no need for it if people would just buy reusable bottles and fill them from their taps. Tap water is just as safe or even safer than bottled water and does not create plastic bottle waste.
It is very annoying to see the small amount of money that the bottling companies pay for the amount of water they take. $500 per million litres,. compared to what we are charged for the water we use. $3.99 for a cubic metre ( 1,000 litres ) and this is our water, the community we live in. Not fair somehow. Maybe if they were charged the same amount they wouldn't be so interested in taking our water.
