I appreciate the work being done to protect Ontario’s species at risk. The proposed government response statements for the Chimney Swift, Davis’s Shieldback, and Lesser Yellowlegs show another step to commitment of preserving our biodiversity, and it’s great to see these species getting the focused attention they need. It may benefit other species that inhabit their similar habitats which would be added bonus. I’m especially impressed by how inclusive this process has been by gathering input from scientists, Indigenous communities, stakeholders, and the public. I believe it's a smart way to ensure these plans are well-rounded and effective. Moving forward, it’d be great to see continued efforts to raise awareness and engage communities. Having clear goals and sharing regular updates on progress will also help keep everyone on track and involved.
