I am curious as to why this is is being rushed - generally, reasons for speed are never noble or transparent. Especially when it comes to the safety of our health - city residents.
This proposal for Ontario Place on Lake Shore Boulevard is not in the public interest, has many links to development as well as the environmental destruction that was also rushed and not in thoughtful consult with environmentalists or residents.
The city of those trying to work to its safety and care have worked for more than a decade plus of work to stop any raw sewage to go to Lake Ontario. These decades of work have separated these sewers for a reason. I am curious how the Premiere would feel if he lived at the waterfront. This does not even take into account that there are international agreements protecting the quality of our water as well as habitat within the Great Lakes. This liquid waste puts the health of all residents at risk as these beaches are used for families, tourists, residents alike. We swim, fish and paddleboard/canoe/boat in these waters. This will endanger the entire ecosystem and pair the loss of poisoning of the biodiversity on top of all the beautiful razed trees that took myriad decades to create (that also give back to the health and safety of the air we breathe as Ontario residents). This puts our health at risk as well as the quality of our beautiful lake for visitors from all over the world. I can only imagine the postcards of Come to Ontario Place, where you can be steps away from our literal toilet. The province and the Premiere have not held any consultations about this proposal with the general public. Again, not a good sign of a project with nothing to hide or proposals of integrity.
Deny this permit.
