I am providing my comments regarding the proposal for an interim combined sewer intended to facilitate development at 955 Lake Shore Boulevard (Ontario Place). I express my opposition to this proposal, as it contradicts the extensive efforts made by the City of Toronto over the years to separate and replace combined sewers throughout the city, aimed at preventing the discharge of untreated sewage into Lake Ontario. Furthermore, it undermines international agreements designed to safeguard water quality and habitats within the Great Lakes. The discharge of such effluent poses significant risks to human health, particularly concerning water quality at beaches, fishing activities, and the overall appeal of the lake as a destination for both Canadian and international tourists. Additionally, the province has failed to engage in any public consultations regarding this initiative.

This proposal, which primarily serves private sector interests, does not align with the public good and jeopardizes the stability of the lake's ecosystem during a period marked by severe biodiversity loss. I urge you to reject this permit.

As well the current gov'ts secrecy and lack of transparency is very concerning. The Spa the removal of all the trees and the destruction of Ontario Place and the Science Centre is very concerning.
