Not only is this Therme megaspa project a colossal waste of taxpayer money that would be better serving Ontarians in healthcare, hiring doctors and nurses and restoring ERs from closure, and mental health services, but it is already an environmental disaster and eyesore in the making. It is unlikely to attract the volume of visitors needed to support the facility. The back channel deal also has raised many concerns about how Premier Ford operates with little accountability and foresight, and is beholden to cronies and developers who fund his campaigns.

The latest revelation about the spa dumping sewage into Lake Ontario is shocking and unacceptable. It will make algae blooms (and their stench) an ongoing by product, as well as the obvious biohazards of human waste on a sensitive ecosystem and endangered wildlife, already impacted by the destruction of more than 800 mature trees.

I would urge the Premier to scrap the deal and put Ontarians first above his personal vanity project.
