I am commenting on the proposal for an interim combined sewer to support development at 955 Lake Shore Boulevard (Ontario Place). The proposal is a short sighted plan to dump raw untreated sewage into the West Channel at Ontario Place.
I am opposed to the proposal which goes against decades of work by the City of Toronto to separate and replace combined sewers across the city to prevent the discharge of raw sewage into Lake Ontario.
It also flies in the face of international agreements to protect water quality and habitat in the Great Lakes. Lake Ontario is the source of our drinking water and a precious
element for our sustainability. Our lake and it’s water are not a commodities to be gambled with for the profit of other ventures.
This effluent also risks human health and safety in terms of water quality at beaches, fishing and the quality of the lake as an attraction for Canadian and international visitors.
Absolutely NO consultations about this work has been provided for the general public.
This proposal benefits Private Sector Initiatives by the provincial government.
It is not in the public interest . It threatens the stability of Lake Ontario’s ecosystem in a time of severe biodiversity loss. Please deny this permit.
