I am writing to voice my opposition to the proposal for an interim combined sewer to support development at 955 Lake Shore Boulevard (Ontario Place). This plan contradicts the years of hard work by the City of Toronto to separate and replace combined sewers throughout the city, a key initiative to prevent the discharge of untreated sewage into Lake Ontario. It also disregards international agreements aimed at protecting the water quality and habitats of the Great Lakes.

The discharge of effluent poses serious risks to human health, affecting water quality at beaches, fishing areas, and the overall appeal of the lake as a destination for both Canadian and international visitors. Additionally, the province has failed to consult the public on this matter.

This proposal, intended to benefit private sector interests, is not in the public interest and threatens the delicate balance of the lake’s ecosystem, particularly in a time when biodiversity is already under significant threat. I urge you to reject this permit.
