I am writing to express my deep concern and strong opposition to the proposed redevelopment of Ontario Place.

The current redevelopment plans, undermines the community’s best interests and presents questionable benefits while enriching the people directly involved in the project at the cost of broader public access and ownership.

Furthermore, the environmental implications of the redevelopment cannot be ignored. Ontario Place’s waterfront location is home to diverse ecosystems that require careful preservation. Large-scale construction projects, particularly those involving private development, pose significant risks to the ecological balance of the area. Additionally, the potential for increased sewage runoff into Lake Ontario as a result of intensified development is a grave concern. This would not only harm aquatic ecosystems but also compromise water quality for surrounding communities. Protecting the natural beauty, biodiversity, and water quality of Ontario Place should be a priority, not an afterthought.

Ontario Place has historically been a space for all Ontarians to gather, connect with nature, and enjoy cultural and recreational activities

I urge your government to prioritize community-focused alternatives that reflect the values and needs of Ontarians.

The proposal for an interim combined sewer to support development is unacceptable.  I am opposed to the proposal which goes against decades of work by the City of Toronto to separate and replace combined sewers across the city to prevent the discharge of raw sewage into Lake Ontario.

Robust public consultation should be a cornerstone of this process, ensuring that voices across the province are heard and respected.

Ontario Place has the potential to remain a world-class destination that reflects the best of what our province has to offer. By prioritizing public access, environmental protection, and cultural preservation, we can ensure that it continues to serve as a source of pride and inspiration for generations to come.

I respectfully request that your government reconsider the proposed redevelopment plans and work collaboratively with community members, environmental experts, and cultural organizations to create a vision for Ontario Place that truly benefits everyone.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. I look forward to your response and to seeing Ontario Place preserved and revitalized in a way that honors its legacy and serves the public good.
