I was a member of the Toronto Island Sailing Club and can say that we have a certain pride in the health and cleanliness of Lake Ontario. Pushing through this proposal does not meet with our great city's values around clean water and care of our natural wildlife. Our tap drinking water is considered one of the best too. Why would you approve two years of this area not being used by swimmers, rowers and paddlers and of course, wildlife? Especially at the exorbitant cost to our fine city and province. It is my understanding that the City already has a multi-year plan in place to deal with this issue properly but due to the timing of the contract with Therme, the Ford government and Infrastructure Ontario are prioritizing their needs instead of prioritizing our need for water we can swim, drink and fish in. Please don't allow our people, water and wildlife to suffer without appropriate environmental assessments or any real rewards to the province in general or the city in particular.
