NO. This proposal/application should not be approved. It is unacceptable for many reasons.
1/ A combined sewer overflow , raw sewage being discharged directly into Lake Ontario, makes no sense. This is 2025, not 1825 or 1925. This is the largest city in Canada. More sophisticated technology/treatment exists. Why would anyone settle for such a rudimentary and irresponsible discharge of sewage?
2/ Allowing the discharge of raw sewage into Lake Ontario, the source of drinking water for millions of people, is repugnant, and surely violates health standards.
3/ Contaminating the lake in this way compromises the quality of water for the species that depend on healthy water quality to thrive. Why would anyone deliberately pollute the water on which other species depend?
4/ The term "interim" is completely nebulous. It gives too wide berth to long term use of the discharge.
5/ I note that the address in question is that of the proposed Therme Spa. What "luxury" spa would allow such repugnant practices? Hardly in keeping with what any potential guests would expect from a "luxury" spa.
All in all the application for the approval of interim combined sewer overflow ( to be constructed at 955 Lake Shore Blvd W 0, whereby the storm water would discharge into Lake Ontario, should NOT be approved.
