This proposal is incredibly destructive to the natural species and habitats unique to Ontario, and must be abandoned. Ontario has more to gain in a future of true and effective conservation, built upon standards that already exist — not by scaling back the current ones in existence. Canadian tourism is on an upswing. Our conservation efforts are, and will continue to be integral to this. I reject this proposal and the harmful effects it would have on our environment, native species, and our first nations' and their way of life.
This proposal is counterintuitive to a progressive way forward. It simply stands on the wrong side of history if it were to be implemented.
This is an example of how harmful Trump Era politics are trying to infiltrate their way into Canada. This is not what Ontario citizens have voted for, and it is what we will continue to fight against. The optics are not good for the current Ontario government if it continues down this path.
