We have come so far in…

We have come so far in Ontario/Canada with protecting our species at risk. We know people will always try to take as many short cuts to save/make money. Do you really think builders care about much more than bottom line. This is why rules and regulations have been put in place. Left to our own design humans would completely build on everything endangered habitat that we can fill it.
Please for once think of the future and not just making money in the present.
Please don't make this about building more affordable housing because that would be more believable if the home being built for the last 20 years were actually addressing the issue.
