The ESA and environmental protection acts keep Ontario buffered against severe weather patterns that get more pronounced and destructive without protected features. Endangered species are a critical part of cultural heritage, and support clean water resources, microfauna, and keystone species that Canadians identify with culturally and personally. Many of these species are also cultural keystone species for First Nations, and their protection is enshrined in Treaty Law. Removing the ESA and the protections that it provides could violate many other acts and laws currently in place, which were designed to support healthy communities and rates of growth. Poor planning and resource management by government agencies should not result in destruction of sensitive and irreplaceable natural features.
