Hi,
I have a few concerns reading the proposal. The 2007 legislation while impeding development is also significantly stronger to my understanding than the proposed. I believe that protecting the diversity and strength of our ecological systems in Ontario to be more important than the delays caused by the legislation and that in the long term especially considering the effects and climate change and habitat encroachment we would regret over developing to try to make money now as this isn’t something you can fix or go back on if a mistake is made. Additionally, the definition changes for habitats to just include the burrows/root areas seems very narrow. Would this actually mean that for a fox or rabbit the area protected would just be immediately around their burrow because they need significantly more space than that to survive and access to different resources. Overall, I am against repealing protections. If you can increase efficiency without reducing protections I support that but believe protection should come first.
