Ontario does not need more new housing. Cities and regions like Kitchener-Waterloo are full of vacant spaces that can be renovated, however for reasons such as greed are preventing these already existing spaces from being used by those who need it. Sprawling urban builds out to natural areas, such as the greenbelt, creates huge amounts displaced animal species, massive carbon emissions, and costs wild, unnecessary amounts of money.
Canada is known for its beautiful greenspaces and its wildlife. Changing definitions for what a habitat is and getting rid of protections for endangered species is going backwards in progress for the planet and our natural ecosystems.
While improving the economy is important, destroying the environment and killing of animal species is not the way to do it. Investing in improving what already exists, as well as strengthening infrastructure is more cost effective, and better for the environment. Greed will kill the planet, and you can't bring your money with you when you die.
