This bill absolutely should not move forward. Environmental protections are in place specifically because we have consistently demonstrated that without them short-term thinking will result in destruction of key habitats, population deline and loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services. I understand that is seems inconvenient to have to consider these protections while undertaking a project but that is the very reason they are important. They are the speed limit on a highway. Removing them may allow you to get somewhere quicker, but the cost may be catastrophic and irreparable. Do not let short-sighted desire undermine long term sustainability.
