As someone working in ecology and ecosystem management, this bill is extremely concerning. Environmental protections are already weak in Ontario and across the country and this bill would further weaken them. It is important to increase protections for threatened and important species, not make development faster by ignoring the impact assessment process. This bill is also ignorant of treaty rights, favouring developers over the natural environment and Indigenous interests. I strongly oppose this bill.
