I’m writing to share my concern about the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act and how they might impact Ontario’s bird populations. As someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, I’ve seen how much bird populations have declined. Species like the Bobolink and Eastern Meadowlark used to be common. Now, it’s rare and honestly a bit heartbreaking when I do see them. We can’t afford to make it easier to destroy the habitats these birds rely on. Even small changes to legislation can have big ripple effects, especially when it comes to already-vulnerable species. I hope you’ll consider strengthening, not weakening, protections—giving these birds a real chance to recover and thrive. They’re part of what makes this province beautiful, and I’d love future generations to experience that too. Thank you for your time and consideration.
