Many aspects of this proposed bill present a danger to existing animal habitats via the narrow definition/scope and unilateral decision-making without expert scientific consultation.

The proposed bill removes important protections that have existed for valuable conservation reasons and contains no tangible plan for species recovery built into the process.

Our provincial government has built immense capabilities in terms of protecting endangered species, and these will be jeopardized as the federal jurisdiction has traditionally relied on the province in this regard.

Having a registration first approach is irresponsible. What other authorities use such approach? More robust processes like what currently exist were built up after many expert consultations, and should be retained.

Economic development and environmental protections can co-exist. Stripping away protections for vulnerable species will destroy valuable ecosystems that our communities, country, and planet needs.
