This proposed change is a travesty. It's appalling and dismissive of the importance of environmental and species protection. It puts the greed of people over the protection of our planet - a world that is quickly crumbling before our eyes. With the current politics South of the border we should be championing environment and species protection above all else, be a leader rather than part of the lowest common denominator. Voluntary programs, the ability to just ignore the rules at a whim, all of this is blatantly offensive. I strongly oppose this proposal and think rather you should be moving to strengthen protections and require even more due diligence and care from developers. As a province and a nation we should be moving towards more innovative housing solutions, towards increasing density, not just clearing the way to pave over the entire province.
