This sounds like another way to cut corners so as to increase development activity at the expense of Ontario's natural environment and wildlife. I do not support this proposal.
We need to realize that further elimitation of natural environment is extremely harmful to Ontario's natural processes, public wellbeing, and biodiversity. The cost of continued development in the typical fashion of taking up more space is becoming too high- the rate of biodiversty loss is accelerating. We need to find more innovative ways to develop that do not take up more natural space. Be warned- loss of biodiversity and natural environment will eventually lead to economic crisis as more invasive species take over, pollinater loss harms agriculture, wildfires create more cost and emergencies, and there is no reprieve from climate change. At some point we must say enough is enough, and only build within our current physical parametres. We have to see the larger picture here- when do we stop? When everything is paved over and only giant factories and big box stores and townhouses exist?
The species at risk act is incredibly important to maintain biodiversity, keep development out of sensitive and important natural areas, and ensure development does not negatively impact Ontario's marginalized wildlife. The new proposal sounds like it only favours giant developers- putting more money into billionaire companies' pockets, at the expense of Ontario's natural wellbeing and ensaring the people of our province into cash grabbing poorly built housing and paved over industrial lifestyles. Please do not approve this proposal. Thank you.
